Stephanie Rosenthal

Chief of Staff at FTC

The FTC was responsible for enacting an amendment to the TSR (Telephone Sales Rule) in 2010 that prohibits the collection of an advance fee when providing Debt Relief Services. Aside from the TSR Amendment, they also enforce consumer protection laws including Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive Acts and Practices rules in which every firm must abide. The FTC’s laws cover everything from marketing and advertising, consumer outreach messaging and fee collection models and nearly every other aspect involving how a business engages a consumer. ALL debt relief services are affected by the amendment to this rule INCLUDING Student Loan Relief Services. This will be a great time to get the answers you need to understand and comply with the rules.
